Description
The Vertex is a real 3-Season double camping hammock. You each get your own space. That means you aren’t squished and you won’t notice when the other person gets in or out. But you can always roll over and visit the other occupant. The breathable WeatherShield offers privacy and warmth. The Vertex Ultra features two independent hammock beds and an ample storage compartment that can hold backpacks and items you may need during the night.  The hammock hangs from three supports. We include the best suspension system available which includes Amsteel slings, Timp-Hitch attachment point pre-installed on the hammock, and adjustable tree protection straps. You will hang the hammock quickly and stay dry, bug-free and perfectly comfortable in this American-made system. Set up on the ground when no trees are available by bringing along a waterproof ground cloth and three stakes.
The Vertex bed has two independent sleeping areas that hang independently while allowing the occupants to share the same tent. The double camping hammock is just as stable as Clark’s solo hammocks, so you don’t need to worry if one person gets in or out. In fact, you may not even notice if the other occupant exits the hammock during the night. If you sleep solo in this hammock, you may sleep on one side and place your backpack and other items in the second hammock bed. Alternatively, a single occupant can turn diagonally across the double hammock and the hammock bed will respond by providing the flattest hammock bed possible.
The center storage section of the Vertex double camping hammock has ample space for two backpacks, or even a small child. Two pockets attached to the center storage section can hold items you need during the night. The two pockets can become one large pocket if you prefer to put a large item such as a backpack inside.
When temperatures drop below 60 degrees Farenheit, Â you can attach the matching Z-Liner 270 underquilt (sold separately) to each bed to stay warm in temperatures down to 0 degrees F (-17 degrees C).
Features:
Timp-Hitch suspension system includes 1500lb. Amsteel slings and tree straps; Two (2) hammock beds with independent stability are made from mosquito-resistant fabric; Two (2) exterior storage pockets for shoes and gear; breathable WeatherShield for privacy and extra protection from cold, wind and moisture; one (1) interior storage pocket; full No-See-Um netting can be unzipped to foot-end where it stores in a pocket; built-in stuff bag; zippers include double sliders on both sides of the tent hammock; flexible fiberglass poles.

We’ve had so much fun in this hammock! Fits 2 adults and a 2-year-old in the center. It’s often difficult to find a spot with 3 trees appropriately spaced. Completely waterproof and bugproof without additional products. Can be quite uncomfortable and lopsided if you don’t hang it correctly or the weight is unevenly distributed (like an adult on one side and a kid and pack on the other).

Question

Since asking my earlier question about the weight limit of the centre storage area, I have found my original booklet. I bought my Vertex 9 years ago and it states that this central storage area’s safety weight limit is 200lb (91kg). Does that mean that the latest Vertex’s storage area weight rating has decreased to 50lb (22.7kg)?

Question

I’ve had my Vertex VX-300 for 9 years. I included the Vertex rainfly and two Z Liners. I also have a Clark TX-250. The only mods I have done is to replace the black ropes with Whoopie Slings and carabiners and the 2 inch tree straps with the newer 1 inch daisy chain type straps, which I prefer. In hindsight, the original black rope suspension was perfectly fine especially now with YouTube videos showing the use of the drip rings as adjustable suspension. The Whoopie slings are lighter. The Clark suspensions now come with Timp Hitches, which look pretty good, and whoopies. Anyway, my Vertex has always been an excellent hammock. I have no complaints at all. Clark Hammocks really are the Rolls Royce of hammocks. Do yourself a favour, save up and buy one. You won’t regret it!

In the description it says stay dry and shows what appears as an option of the netting or the full fabric cover. Is that full fabric cover an alternative to a rain fly? Is it water-proof?

Dave Gantz –
The top cover is not waterproof. You will need a rain fly/tarp for a completely waterproof setup.

How do you stake the hammock if using on the ground as a tent? In the description it says to use a ground sheet and three stakes, but not sure how exactly.

Customer Service –
Trekking poles. The idea is that the trekking poles keep the netting out of your face while the hammock lays on the ground.
